ABOUT YDC THEATRE

Young voices. Creative power. Meaningful change.

Youth Developers Collaboration (YDC) Theatre is a Malawian youth-focused creative organisation using theatre and the arts to develop young people, create opportunities and spark conversations around issues that matter.

YDC THEATRE

Creativity is more than performance.

Youth Developers Collaboration, commonly known as YDC Theatre, brings together young creatives across theatre, music, poetry, dance, visual arts and other creative disciplines.

YDC has developed a distinctive approach to theatre that places young people at the centre of creative practice. Its work spans performance, education, workshops, community engagement, advocacy and opportunities for emerging artists.

For YDC, theatre is not simply something people watch. It is a platform where people can participate, question, learn, communicate and imagine new possibilities.

YDC STORY
OUR STORY

From collaboration to creative change.

YDC Theatre emerged from a generation of young Malawian artists who wanted to build something together. The organisation developed around the idea that creative talent becomes more powerful when artists collaborate, develop their skills and create opportunities for one another.

Over the years, YDC has produced theatre, participated in festivals, facilitated creative workshops and developed projects that connect artistic expression with important social issues.

Its work demonstrates a belief that theatre can move beyond the conventional stage and become a tool for education, dialogue, advocacy and community engagement.

Theatre as a platform. A place where young people can create, speak, question, learn and lead.
