Education Theatre for Young Audiences (ETYA) is a theatre mobility hub that brings theatre productions directly into high and secondary schools.
The programme responds to educational and extracurricular activities for students. Currently, the project includes a treatment of Macbeth, a production included in the secondary school literature syllabus in Malawi.
YDC began Shakespearean literature research in 2018, which led to adaptations of Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet.
Through performance, students encounter literature as a living experience rather than simply a text on a page.
The workshop teaches both theory and practice in immersive and participatory performances.
Immersive performance challenges the traditional position of the audience, while participatory performance uses tools such as game design and activism to expand the possibilities of performance.
